Janet joined the Health Center team in 2019. She supports students and the medical and mental health providers at Walla Walla High School in the role of Care Coordinator.
Mariana is our Garrison Bilingual Care Coordinator. She grew up in Milton Freewater and the Walla Walla Valley. She comes with years of experience in administration, working in mental health, medical care, and management roles. Before joining our team, Mariana worked with Special Education students in the Milton Freewater school district.
Amanda is our new care coordinator at WaHi. Before coming to THC, she worked in both the finance and healthcare fields, bringing a unique blend of expertise and perspective to her work. She lives in Walla Walla with her husband, three dogs, and two axolotls, where she enjoys a creative life. Outside of her professional career, Amanda is an artist, gardener, certified dog trainer, and baker who loves sharing her creations with family and friends.
Master of Clinical Social Work: Walla Walla University: Tim’s Experience includes work supporting families with major illness and hospice care, and working with preschool through high school children/adolescents in school-based health centers. He prefers a person-centered view informed by neuropsychology; integrating modalities with Choice Theory, which includes a number of thinking, behavioral, emotional, and body-based tools to improve relationships and empower people to find more effective ways of meeting their needs. Tim supervises providers completing hours for social work licensure and master degree candidates.
As a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Walla Walla University, Jill is passionate about helping individuals achieve emotional well-being and personal growth. She specializes in working with adolescents (ages 13-21) who are navigating a variety of life challenges, including anxiety, depression, family dynamics, academic stress, and identity exploration. Jill believes in a holistic, individualized approach to therapy—treating the whole person and recognizing that each journey is unique. By considering your background, culture, and life experiences, Jill tailors her approach to meet your specific needs. Her goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered. She strives to build a trusting, non-judgmental relationship that encourages open and honest communication. With a balanced blend of professionalism and genuine care, Jill works alongside you as a partner in your healing and self-discovery.
Sarah has a Masters degree in Social Work from Walla Walla University, with specific class work in attachment, children, and cognitive therapy. Her experience includes working with adolescents in school-based health centers, survivors of trauma, helping individuals of all ages and life experiences navigate through crises, and those involved in corrections. Sarah utilizes a holistic and eclectic approach to therapy, pulling from cognitive behavior therapies including trauma-focused theories, play/art therapy, and solution-focused therapy. This approach allows her to meet students where they are at in their journey, identify what they want to work on and empower them to accomplish their goals.
Bayli has a Masters degree in Social Work from Walla Walla University. Her experience includes working with struggling college students at WWU and adolescents at Walla Walla High School. She uses an eclectic approach and incorporate a variety of interventions including aspects of cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Bayli operates from a holistic, person-in-environment perspective, which helps her understand you and your unique life experiences. Bayli believes everyone has strengths they can use to reach their goals, and that therapy can be a valuable part of that process.
Delia is a social worker with a passion for serving low-income and marginalized communities. She has a background in community organizing, believes in the power of community-based solutions, and works to empower individuals to advocate for themselves and their families. She has a strong belief in the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces for all individuals. Delia graduated from Walla Walla University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. Certified as a Positive Parenting Program (PPP), Strengthening Families, and Financial Coaching. She has had the pleasure of working in this community for over 10 years as a therapist and enjoys working with diverse individuals in the community. Delia has experience working with children, families, and teenagers, providing parent support and developing skills in stress reduction and communication, as well as experience working with Spanish-speaking individuals. Her method is strength-based, motivational interview, and trauma-informed, and she creates an open space to work in collaboration with clients to provide their needs.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Walla Walla University, earned in 2005. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington State with over 20 years of experience providing counseling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples.
My work is grounded in a collaborative, strengths-based, and evidence-informed approach. I draw on a variety of modalities to meet the unique needs of each client. My primary therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-Centered Therapy.
I work in my private practice, Be Well LLC, with adult individuals experiencing a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management, trauma, and relationship issues. My clinical style emphasizes respect, compassion, humor, and empowerment, supporting clients as they navigate their way towards their desired outcome.
In addition to counseling, I am also an approved clinical supervisor in Washington State, offering supervision to associate-level clinicians working toward licensure. My supervision style emphasizes professional development, ethical competence, clinical skill-building, and self-awareness. My supervisory role includes case consultation, skill development, review of documentation, and guidance on legal and ethical considerations.
Anna Salazar was born and raised in Walla Walla and is an intern in the Master of Social Work program at Walla Walla University. With a passion for serving the Latino and LGBTQ+ communities, she is committed to advocating for equity and ensuring that every individual's voice is heard. Anna holds two bachelor’s degrees from Washington State University, Go Cougs!, and is focusing her graduate studies on crisis intervention. Anna worked as a pre-k teacher for a couple of years, where she developed a deep appreciation for fostering growth and resilience in students. Her ultimate goal is to work alongside first responders, providing support during emergencies.
Laura Martinez Hughes, MA, MHP, AAC Laura obtained her Master's of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University. Working in community mental health since 2014, with focus on youth and families. Laura has had the opportunity to practice therapy in homes, the community, as well as in residential treatment facilities providing crisis intervention and trauma treatment. She has had the privilege of working with a wide spectrum of individuals, with varying life experiences and expression, ages ranging from 6 to 67. At the core of Laura's approach is to recognize that we are each the experts of our own lives and we are all doing the best we can in the moment. Her process begins by developing a therapeutic partnership with clients, recognizing strengths, and assisting in skill building utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She appreciates the opportunity to witness and validate client experiences, empowering individuals to live their lives intentionally.
I am an intern counselor working towards my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oregon State University. Before joining the Health Center, I offered telehealth services at a private practice in Vancouver, WA, with clients of a range of ages and a range of presenting concerns. My primary areas of interest include grief and loss, eating disorders, and neurodivergence-affirming counseling. I use an integrated approach that combines multiple theories of counseling based on each client's individual needs, but work to bring an exploration of clients' values and unique strengths into sessions. I believe that authenticity and human connection is the most important aspect of counseling, so I aim to make sure my clients feel they can be genuine with me and trust that I will remain curious and compassionate in our work together.
Jenn began as a volunteer RN for The Health Center in 2022, and officially joined the team in 2023. She loves working with high school students and educating them on ways to stay healthy and in school. Jenn previously lived in Seattle where she volunteered in a clinic that served families experiencing homelessness. She has prior hospital, clinic, and healthcare management experience.
